Getting married in 2021? Here’s how Covid-19 will affect your wedding plans.

In just a matter of days, we had 8 of our spring weddings reschedule to 2021. That was fast, and after being in the industry for over 5 years we have never seen anything like this pandemic. That being said, weddings are some of the most beautiful celebrations we get to experience in life and a pandemic is not going to stop the future of this strong industry. We as vendors are passionate about weddings and we are driven to help you experience all you have dreamed of. The biggest question we hear from future brides is how does this affect my wedding and how should we plan for it?

My first observation is there are going to be A LOT more weddings than normal in 2021. You will have the usual amount of brides who had planned on this in advance, in addition to all of the current brides from this year that are rescheduling. Although there will be an influx of more brides there’s the same amount of vendors and venues to serve these brides. If we had 8 weddings rescheduled that’s not just 8 dates that we as a videographer no longer have available, but every other vendor attached to that wedding. With all of the down time you may ask yourself what’s the rush with booking my vendors for 2021? If you’re asking for my professional opinion I think you need to book, and do it quickly. Every future bride is sitting at home just like all of us, which means they are taking that time to plan and contact vendors.

One important thing to note is as a company we are still sending out our 2020 pricing guide to any future inquiries. That means any bride booking us for 2021 is getting a great deal. Prices will go up, not just for us but for every wedding vendor and venue. The closer we get to the dates the more booked up vendors will become, at this point most companies test out higher prices as they’ve got a lot of bookings and less to lose. Vendors are never going to be so happy to have you contacting them early, of course it’s great for the planning and gives you both more time to prepare and talk through the details. On top of that small businesses are facing a lot of uncertainty, so the fact that you’re locking down your date early, will make your vendors very thankful for you and that often comes back to you in many ways.  You will be more likely to get a good deal, they will go out of their way to meet your needs and there will be more time to build a personal relationship.

As wedding vendors we are more committed than ever to assist couples with their big day. If everyone is like us we’re ready to get out of the house and get back to work! Before you know it we’ll be back dancing under the lights, drinking a glass of wine and celebrating in ways that only weddings can.
